What is Startup Skool? image

Startup Skool provides advanced educational programming for youth ages 8 - 16 on entrepreneurship, design thinking, and technology. We run summer programs that help prepare students for the future by teaching them skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and computer programming in a way that's fun and motivating.

Why are we building entrepreneurship in kids?

Our world is rapidly changing. Careers that once existed are becoming obsolete while new careers we've never heard of in school are being built. Youth are growing up educated yet inexperienced when they enter the workforce. Entrepreneurship is about passion for solving real problems, creating opportunities in challenges, and adapting and growing in ever-changing circumstances. It applies to any and all professions. We need to prepare the next generation for this new world and it needs to start early when we can instill those skills in students.

What they can learn in only a few days in summer?

Throughout the week, students will learn the fundamentals of starting a business, they'll be challenged to innovate their own ideas, test the market, build prototypes, create a website and finally, pitch their ideas to a “Dragons’ Den” panel of respected local entrepreneurs.

By the end of the week the students are walking away with their own website, a digital portfolio showing all their work, experience in pitching their ideas to professionals, and experience in starting a business. This will leave them with the foundations in place to continue their ideas.

Essentially:
Fundamentals of Starting a Business
Introduction to Computer programming - building their first website
How to Present Their Very Own Pitches to a Panel of Experts
